Have you ever heard of the expression “Out of sight, out of mind”? It is easy when Christians are “out of our sight” that we forget to pray for them. Paul asks us in 1 Thessalonians 5:25 to not neglect remembering our Christian brothers and sisters in prayer, who happen to be away. 1 [...] Put your faith and trust in the Lord. He is One who we can rely upon no matter how bad things get and no matter what happens in our lives. There are times in our lives when people will let us down. I’m not sure we fully realize at times all that He does do for our benefit. In this verse, we read that God’s job is not done when we become Christians. Reading this verse, it points out how merciful and [...] As we live our Christian life, we will face decisions about if something is good or evil. Some of the things are clear cut. Reading the Bible is a clear cut good thing to do. I don’t think many people would argue with that. Gossip and lying would be another clear cut action that [...] In 1 Thessalonians 5:19, we are told to “Quench not the Spirit.” When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, we are to listen, and obey. We are to give deference to the Holy Spirit. Verse 20 goes hand in hand with verse 19. As we read or study the Bible, God will teach you on how that particular verse will apply to you. If you aren’t a Christian, God will guide you to become one. If you are a [...] In verses 15 through 17, Paul gives us some absolutes to keep in mind in our Christian life: ever follow that which is good; rejoice evermore; pray without ceasing. Recalling what Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:15 and 16, we are to continually follow after the things of God; living your life like this will lead to continual joy. So many Christians need to live by these verses but few Christians do. My study led me to the preceding verse, verse 15.
